Crawling Babies

Crawling babies usually begin to crawl when they reach ages 7 to 10 months old. They start to manifest signs of movement by learning how to balance using their hands and knees. Once they figure it out, they will start to slowly crawl their way around.

Development Stage

During this initial stage in a baby’s life, they begin to develop and strengthen their muscles which enables them to keep their balance on their hands and knees. However, this isn’t always the case as some babies start to crawls using their bellies while others shuffle their way or rollover. Some easily progress from crawling to standing up.
They usually start to crawl after they can sit up without any support. At this stage, babies are strong enough to support their head and move their hands and legs. Eventually, they can advance from rolling, sitting, to crawling on all fours.

How to Teach your Baby to Crawl

Even before your baby begins to crawl, make it habit to position your baby on his tummy a few minutes a couple of times throughout the day. This will help develop and improve his muscles and strengthen his back, neck, and arms. You can also encourage your baby to move by placing his toys within his reach. This will entice him to stretch and grab his toy.

Choosing the Right Playpen

Once your baby gets into the habit of crawling, you need to make sure that he is placed in a safe environment. One day your baby will be crawling very slowly and suddenly he or she will be zooming all over the house and getting into all kinds of mischief, often dangerous. This is when parents can become insane and worn to a frazzle. A good and reliable playpen will help keep him out of harm’s way. It gives him a sanctuary where he can play and keep himself entertained without you getting constantly worried over his whereabouts.
